About JSE
The Japanese Society of Echocardiography (JSE) is a professional organization of physicians, cardiac sonographers and scientists involved in echocardiography or the use of ultrasound to image or to measure the cardiovascular systems. JSE has been grown up to the organization comprising more than 4000 members since 1989, when JSE was founded by Dr. Junichi Yoshikawa. The purpose of JSE is to contribute to the promotion of human health through stepping up the level of cardiovascular healthcare or health research by committing excellence to support the research of the cardiovascular ultrasound science and to educate our members about the patient care using the ultrasound, in Japan.
To achieve the purposes of JSE, JSE performs many activities as follows:
1) to hold the annual scientific sessions,
2) to publish the gJOURNAL OF ECHOCARDIOGRAPHYh,
3) to hold seasonal educational programs in summer, autumn and winter,
4) to communicate with domestic and international cardiovascular ultrasound societies, especially with the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) and the European Society of Echocardiography (EAE). (Communication between JSE and ASE are very active and some guest speakers are invited to the annual scientific sessions each other)
5) to appreciate the outstanding sonographer and to certify them as gJSE certified cardiovascular sonographic specialisth6) to fund a scholarship to the scientists studying abroad
JSE consists of the executive board (20 board members) and the council (103 councilmen).
The president of JSE is a chairman of the executive board.
from President, Chairperson of Executive Board
Dear colleagues;
January 2009, I acceded to the president of Japanese Society of Echocardiography (JSE) which was founded by Dr. Junichi Yoshikawa, grown up by Dr. Kunio Miyatake and established by Dr. Shintaro Beppu. I am greatly honored to follow those outstanding predecessors.
The progress of the technology and the science concerning echocardiography during the last half century resulted in the establishment of the echocardiogram as an indispensable diagnostic tool in the clinical cardiology. The aims of JSE are to raise the academic level in the echocardiographic field and to provide an opportunity to learn about echocardiography and its appropriate use in the clinical setting. Thanks to the recent remarkable advancement of the devices, echocardiography can be performed not only in the echo laboratory but in the outpatient clinic and in ER as well. Its portability allows doctors and technicians to carry the device in visiting patients and practice echocardiographic examinations anywhere. Considering that there is an increasing need for routine evaluation of the patients with echocardiography, I support the educational requirements and training recommendations more strongly than ever before.
In raising academic level, international awareness is essential. Regular exchanges with American Society of Echocardiography or European Association of Echocardiography have been established since they were started by the former chairman, Dr. Shintaro Beppu. I believe promoting exchanges with foreign institutions in Asian countries, such as China, South Korea or India is also very important.
Furthermore, JSE believes it has an important role to play, encouraging multi-center researches and being a source of sending out the latest insights in echocardiography to the world, for which the new academic association was originally set up. Our contribution can surely lead to the world-wide expansion of the echocardiographic field.
Due to the recent global recession, there would be possible difficulties we might face; however, I am determined to accomplish my task, to achieve our mission and to develop JSE even further.
I would like to express my most sincere thanks to the members of JSE, and your continued support and cooperation are greatly appreciated.
